Spouse: Laura (Dalton) Hovis
Children: Erica (Hovis) Goins, Ben (Son in Law), Adam Hovis and Anna Hovis Parents: Tom and Judy Hovis (still living)
Graduated Greenville R-II Highschool 1983
Worked on the family cattle farm and sawmill operation through July 1986
Employed by City of Cape Girardeau Police Department July 1986.

Graduated from the Southeast Missouri Law Enforcement Academy September 1986.
During my career, served as a patrol officer, evidence technician, school resource officer, firearms/range instructor, training and community affairs officer, public information Sergeant, Professional Standards Committee, Jail Administrator and Support Services Lieutenant. Retired with over 30 years of service in 2017.

 

Past Service:

President of Fraternal Order of Police for Lodge 33 now known as Lodge 51. Southeast Region representative to the Missouri State Crime Prevention Association.
State Board for LAGERS (Local and Government Retirement System) with over 6 Billion in assets and 40000 members. Served as Vice Chairman of the board, Chairman of the Legislative Committee and member of the disability sub-committee.
Cape Girardeau County 911 board.

 

Currently:

Run a logging business and small hay and feeder cattle farm.
Attends Lynwood Baptist Church and teaches 3rd grade Sunday School with my wife Laura. Life member and current Vice President of Cape Area Friends of the NRA.
Farm Bureau Member for over 20 years.
Missouri Cattleman’s Association member.
Pachyderm Club.
Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce.
Running for District 146 Representative.
